What do Koodo charge for this; I see no mention of it on their website - would it entail adding the 50 MB data package?

If you want to get your email on your phone you will have to add a data plan. It depends upon how much you will be using it how much you should add it. I mean if you have a feature phone you can get it for $10 a month unlimited data.
